Sigma Nu Flag Football

Our brothers played a total of three games last night. Unfortunately, we lost in the championship but everyone had a great time throughout the season. Zack Corneliusen suffered an elbow to the nose but is still fighting on! Thanks to everyone who came out to support us!

Interview with Andrew Butler — Newest Affiliate/Brother of Gamma Tau Chapter

Gamma Tau Chapter of Sigma Nu is proud to welcome Andrew Butler as one of our newest affiliate members. Andrew is majoring in Political Science here at the University of Minnesota. Andrew enjoys photography, working out, playing tennis, and skiing. He began his college career at Furman University in South Carolina, where he decided to rush Kappa Chi Chapter of Sigma Nu after seeing that they held a diverse group of intelligent men.

Andrew made the decision to transfer to the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities in the fall of 2014. “I decided to transfer to the University of Minnesota because Furman did not offer the exact major that I was interested in at the time. Also, I was looking for a college with more opportunities and school spirit. The Furman environment was very small and limiting at times.” Upon his arrival at the U of M, Andrew began to seek opportunities to expand his personal connections on campus and become acclimated to this new environment.

Knowing that there was also a Sigma Nu chapter at the U of M, he decided to explore the possibility of affiliating with Gamma Tau Chapter. “I initially thought that the brothers of Gamma Tau at the U of M were really nice and friendly guys. Everyone was extremely friendly and open with me. Brothers would go out of their ways to interact with me and learn more about my transfer process. Affiliating with the Gamma Tau Chapter of Sigma Nu has provided me with a group within the U of M. Transferring to such a large institution was definitely daunting at times, however, Sigma Nu has made me feel more welcomed and at home at such an enormous university.”

As a new member of Gamma Tau Chapter, Andrew is eager to contribute and feels he has the ability to further enrich our chapter and reinforce the values of Sigma Nu. “In the past, I have often taken on leadership positions in a plethora of organizations. I work well with others and hope to bring some different ideas from the Kappa Chi chapter to the Gamma Tau chapter. I aspire to uphold and live by the Sigma Nu values. Gamma Tau is already an impressive chapter of Sigma Nu and I hope to help continue that trend at the U.” All of the brothers of Gamma Tau Chapter welcome Brother Butler with open arms and will strive to help him grow further as a man of the Legion of Honor.
