Sigma Nu Q&A – Zack Corneliusen

Our very own Reporter, Alex Ruhland, sat down with our Philanthropy Chairman Zack Corneliusen and asked questions about our upcoming Border Battle Event.

Zack Corneliusen – Philanthropy Chairman

Badge: ΓΤ 1521
Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Williston, ND
Major: Kinesiology

AR: So Zack, you’re a young philanthropy chairman with his first big test coming up in Border Battle. How is it going?
ZC: You sound like the sports reporter from Williston. He doesn’t ask real questions, he just makes statements and expects you to answer him.

AR: Ok Zack, but really, how’s the preparation been so far and what’s new with Border Battle?
ZC: It’s been quite an experience with event planning. I mean it’s the first big event I’ve ever done. I would say it’s going pretty well.

AR: Has there been anything you didn’t expect or have had setbacks with?
ZC: It has been a lot more logistical than I had anticipated, like renting out fields and the copying of shirts, also we’ve had to coordinate traveling and lodging for the out of state chapters that are coming in. Melissa, our St. Jude representative has been extremely helpful though this whole process.

AR: So who’s coming this year?
ZC: We have all the returning chapters back this year, which includes NDSU, MSU-Mankato, and Coe College. As for the sorority powder puff league we have grown from 2 to 6 sororities on campus, which consist of KKΓ, AΦ, ΓΦB, ΧΩ, AOΠ, and the defending champs in AΓD. Plus, the winner of this year’s event will also receive a trophy.

AR: What advice would you give the next philanthropy chairman for this event and what would you hope to see in next year’s Border Battle?
ZC: I would tell that person to start working on it early because it’s a lot more work than it seems. I hope to see more chapters coming up to play, and more importantly, raise money for St. Jude’s. We’ve already heard interest from Michigan State, Iowa, and Northwestern for next year, which would be really exciting.

10th Annual Border Battle

Full house this morning as we welcome brothers from Mankato, Coe, and NDSU for a session on the importance of giving back before the kickoff to the 10th Annual Border Battle in benefit of St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
